Natural Choice Show: Washington Trails

NCD_Show"You never climb the same mountain twice, not even in memory. Memory rebuilds the mountain, changes the weather, retells the jokes, remakes all the moves." ~  Lito Tejada-Flores

This speaks volume about the power of nature. Not only does it heal our minds, it helps build relationships and life experiences. We are very fortunate in this Evergreen State to have nature at our backyard. Spring and summer is a great time to head out and enjoy our great outdoors. But there are a few things hikers need to be aware of.

Beware of the changing weather and trail conditions at this time of the year. There may still be snow on the ground. Melting snow and rising streams also change the hiking conditions from day-to-day, or even within the same day.

"Take only pictures; leave only footprints." This is a great reminder -- enjoy the beauty in harmony with nature. Preserve the land for our future generations.

Washington Trails Association has been the voice for hikers in the state for the last four decades. The Association protects hiking trails and wildlands, and promotes hiking as a fun and healthy way for people to explore the outdoors. Their website is a great resource for new and experienced hikers. You can find guides to great hikes, trip reports, hiking and safety tips, as well as volunteer opportunities. Tune-in to find out more about what the Evergreen State has to offer.
