A Sacred Moment Message from A Sacred MomentHome Funeral Vigils and Green Burials Natural & Alternative Funerals to Honor Your Loved One's Life Exclusive Snohomish County PMA provider. Services include:
About A Sacred Moment A Sacred Moment is one of the first licensed funeral homes in the country to offer home funerals and green burials as a central vision and purpose. Char Barrett, owner, opened the doors of her Everett, Washington office in January 2010. (She retains an office in downtown Seattle as well.) Char is a licensed funeral director and home funeral consultant, and she is the first president of the newly formed National Home Funeral Alliance (NHFA) with growing membership across the country. A Sacred Moment has three staff members - Christopher Ronk, Jan Pollard and Lucinda Herring, as well as a volunteer intern, Lindsay Cummings. We are all trained as home funeral guides/consultants and can offer practical and spiritual support to families wishing to care for their own dead. Our newest staff member is Bindi, a miniature Labradoodle, who will become a companion/therapy dog offering her own kind of joy and comfort to families in need. A Sacred Moment is a full-service funeral home, offering direct cremations and conventional burials, along with memorial and funeral services. We are the sole contracted provider in Snohomish County for People's Memorial Association, a large Seattle-based consumer group seeking simple services at reasonable prices. Our work in the office is a challenging balance act between our standard People's Memorial services, offering "no frills" direct cremation, and our very personal, soulful and customized work of supporting families who request home funeral vigils and green burials. Staff members work flexible hours that allow us to be where we are most needed, and to offer the very personalized care home funerals require. We are developing a relationship with Anthroposophical/Waldorf families, traditional Tibetan families and Buddhist practitioners whose spiritual practices include vigiling and care of the soul/body after death. The support we provide is diverse - from full Catholic Mass funerals to the simplest scattering of cremated remains. We are excited about creating a new "hybrid" model funeral home, not duplicated anywhere else at this time. Our venture will continue to grow, transform and emerge in new ways, to meet the ever-present need of families who wish to grieve and celebrate their loved ones in ways that are meaningful, life-giving, and sustainable.
