If you're looking for food with a social conscience in Olympia, Traditions Café is the place for you. Besides offering healthful, organic meals, Traditions also supports the Fair Trade movement by featuring a boutique of beautiful folk arts from around the world.

First, the café. The menu features healthful Panini sandwiches such as the Vegan, loaded with soy bacon, roasted red peppers and sun-dried tomatoes, or the Roma, with provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, mushrooms and pesto. Spinach lasagna features whole wheat spinach noodles with ricotta cheese, mozzarella, parmesan, tomato sauce served with a slice of grilled foccacia bread. Black bean enchiladas can be made vegan or with cheese, and a variety of vegetable or meat quiches are available.

There's also a daily soup, Greek salad, Caesar salad, and lemon-tahini salad with brown rice. A bakery features bagels, cookies, gingerbread with whipped cream, and Olympic Mountain ice cream. Drinks include coffee, Italian soda, organic cider and more.

The Traditions boutique features crafts - such as jewelry, clothing, baskets, musical instruments, toys and rugs -- from more than 50 countries. Traditions is a member of the Fair Trade Federation, an association of wholesalers, retailers and producers committed to providing fair wages and good employment opportunities to economically disadvantaged artisans and farmers worldwide.
